As 7th November approaches, aspiring members of the National Democratic Congress(NDC) in the Akwatia contituency have been busy campaigning for its members to vote for them in the primaries.
Basil Ahiable who's contesting Baba Jamal has so far toured places like Akenkano, Wenchi, Sienkyem, Soabɛ, Kusi, Okumaning, Dwenase, Apinamang, among others, just to mention few, has been warmly received by the above mentioned towns.
Ahiable's message to the people centred on the fact that the incumbent has not been able to help the constituency in his term as an mp and he must be voted out. He clarified himself when he heard the incumbent said in his campaign that he gave him (Ahiable) a job. "Baba Jamal was in school when I was teaching in London and in South Africa but I have never said a word about it before.
Basil stated that if he's voted for, he's not going to be a Deputy minister but rather a minister and he'll make sure the contituency get what it deserve so each and everyone in the contituency will be okay.
The campaign manager for Ahiable's team, Benard Bediako also stated that Baba Jamal should've used his influence as a deputy minister of labour and employment to have employed at least 2 or 3 people in major communities in the contituency.
Baba Jamal on the other hand has visited towns such as Dwenase, Soabɛ, Anweaso, No#4, Topremang, Bamenase, Apinamang, Wenchi and others. He also stated in Sakyikrom that, the man who's competing with him is also an NDC member so he will not speak against him. "I know my contender who has been here already have been insultive and even gone ahead to speak against our party. They all started by saying I have not done anything for the constituency in my term of office but go to all the towns in the constituency and they will tell you what I have done for them, even if I did not do it with my money I can say for a fact that I helped them achieve it, that is why I have written on my Poster that touching every community".
He therefore adviced all registered members to step out and vote on 7th November.
Meanwhile the District Police Commander ASP Francis K Aboagye, has cautioned everyone who has made up his/her mind to misconduct him/herself to think again because he/she will be taken by the law, He adviced the aspirants to talk to their supporters. He added that if any NPP member is influeced to vote or misbehave during the primaries, he will take that person down by the law. He said peace must prevail in the constituency during and after the election.
