The founder of the Godsway International Ministry Bishop Daniel Obinim has been acquitted and discharged by an Accra High Court in an assault case against a radio panelist at Hot FM.
According to the presiding judge Justice Iddrisu Abdulai, the evidence by the state prosecution was not credible enough to implicate the religious leader.
Two associate pastors of Obinim – Kingsley Baah and Kofi Akwetey – had been freed on charges of conspiracy to assault, unlawful entry and assault.
Bishop Obinim during the trial told the court in his evidence that he compensated the panelists of Hot FM, who were at the studio when the melee occurred.
The bishop in his evidence in chief stated that he went to the station to clarify issues on the allegations of marital infidelity which was being discussed there, but was rather assaulted and pushed out of the station.
The pastor said he never saw any crowbar at the station and did not have any physical contact with Kwame Ntim, the panelist who alleged that he (Obinim) had harmed him.
According to Starr News’ court correspondent Wilberforce Asare, the judge said the prosecution could have brought any of the people present in the studio on the said day to give a more credible account of what exactly took place.
