Parliamentary candidates aspiring to be Member of Parliament in the Akwatia Constituency have submitted their nomination forms to the Electoral Commission in Akwatia.
Ama Sey, Mrs. Sakyi and Baba Jamal all of NPP, CPP and NDC respectively submitted their nomination forms on Thursday afternoon.
Constituency Secretary of the NPP in Akwatia, Eugene Opoku Acheampong aka Achee filed the nomination forms on behalf of Madam Ama Sey. Achee told DerayCityGh.com reporters that his candidate was busy at a meeting that's why he couldn’t make it. He was accompanied by communication director of the party in the constituency and other executives.
Mrs. Sakyi of CPP also went to the office of the EC to personally submit her forms. She is a teacher by profession and has taught for over 30 years. She was accompanied to the EC office by former parliamentary candidate of CPP Mr. Agyei aka Chairman Base.
Baba Jamal on the other hand walked on the principal streets of Akwatia with some party executives and supporters to the office of the EC to submit his forms. Some of the executives were party Chairman, Moro Awale, youth organizer Asanka Poyoyo and others.
Stephen Ofori of PPP failed to submit his forms. He told DerayCityGh.com reporters that the reasons why he failed to submit the forms are personal. He said he will call a press conference at the appropriate time to explain to the media and declare his support for one parliamentary candidate.
As it stands now EC did not take money from the candidates because court has placed injunction on it.
