PHOTOS: Baba Jamal and GOPDC Extend Electricity to Okumaning Aboabo

Inhabitants of Aboabo in the Denkyembour district in Eastern Region have received electricity for the first time in their village.

According to Asante Kennedy who's the Assembly man of the area, They went to see Baba Jamal for a discussion and he (Baba Jamal) saw the need to help them get electricity since Ghana Oil Palm Development Limited, (GOPDC) has been using their land to plant palm trees.

The manager of ECG Mr. Emmanuel Kwame Adisi advised the people of Aboabo to desist from illegal connection and quack electricians from bad wiring which may result in causing fire in their various houses. He therefore told them to come to his office in case they need any assistance. Mr. Adisi used the opportunity to teach them how to use electricity wisely.

The Managing director of GOPDC, Mr. Gert Vandermissen stated that the Aboabo electrification project is one of such major development projects that have been undertaken by GOPDC. This project was started in the year 2014, the necessity of it was mainly to improve the lives of the people living in the community, most especially that of the children and young adults in respect of childhood development and education. It is also to create channels and avenues for job creation and boost the local economy and other occupational proceedings in the area.
Despite the current economic challenges, GOPDC allocated a sum of Ghc651,085 fron the CSR budget for the smooth implementation of the electrification extension project for Okumaning Aboabo.

The MP for Akwatia Constituency, Hon. Ahmed Baba Jamal in his speech thanked the management of GOPDC for bringing joy on the faces of the people of Aboabo. He said he went into bet with the chief of Aboabo that if he was able to win the 2012 election, he would provide electricity for them and he fulfilled his promise. Baba Jamal asked the people of Aboabo not to forget him in the upcoming December 7th elections because there are more development projects on the way.
Baba Jamal has so far provided about 140 electricity meters, bridge and CHP Center which is currently under construction.

Osaberima Adu-Gyamfi III, chief of Okumaning Aboabo thanked Hon. Baba Jamal and Mr. Gert Vandermissen for the wonderful things they’ve done for Aboaboman and asked for more development projects in Okumaning Aboabo. He further assures Baba Jamal not to fear in the December elections as his people are ready to vote for him. He told Baba to help the in construction of Okumaning Aboabo road in his next term in power.

    1. well in case u dont know, started with blogspot and later upgraded to bought its own domain. The website went down due to system migration according to our designer but later told us that he's moving to a new host. if u visit deraycitygh.com u can see that the domain is still working but with no design. and besides the renewal of the domain name will be next month. so is not like we coudnt pay as u are speculating. the owner of deraycity as well runs a new website which is www.telenovelasgh.com, my brother get facts rights before shaming somebody.
