A jealous woman has burnt her rival to death at Akyem Kusi, a farming community in Dɛnkyɛmbour district in the Eastern region.
The suspect, Akua Mansa claimed the victim Monica Owusu was having an affair with her boyfriend and therefore decided to teach her a bitter lesson.
An eyewitness who spoke to Deraycity.com Tuesday said, Akua who hails from Akwatia had accused her boyfriend Kwesi Adom, a galamsey operator of having an affair with the victim because of calls and text messages she sent to his phone but he denied vehemently.
The issue became murkier when Kwesi moved to Akyem Kusi to be closer to his new lover. An enraged Akua Mansa initiated steps to locate her rival, who she blamed for the strain relationship.
On Tuesday dawn, the eyewitness said Mansa succeeded in tracing her rival Monica, who was fast asleep, Mansa lynched Monica and poured a substance suspected to be petrol on her and set her ablaze.
“The victim begun shouting for help but Akua had locked the door so it took sometime before we could break in only to find her burnt to ashes”.
He said after committing the heinous crime, Akua Mansa tried to escape but was caught and beaten to pulp by residents in the town.
She was later handed over to the Akwatia police who prevented the angry mob from lynching her too.
Akua Mensah is said to be in critical condition at Akwatia St. Dominics hospital and the burnt body of Monica Owusu has been deposited at St. Dominics mortuary.
The case is under investigation by the Akwatia Police.
