The New Patriotic party in the Akwatia Constituency lead by Mercy Adu-Gyamfi Bello popularly known as Ama Sey, launched her campaign in the constituency last Sunday.
Many dignitaries in the party including Lawyer Atta Akyea, Hon. Osafo Marfo, Hopeson Adoye, Nana Ohene Ntow and others passed through the launching.
At the launching Ama Sey said that,
"This year is an election year and the people of Akwatia Constituency and Ghana as a whole are suffering. You all know where I am coming from and how I reached where I am. You've been hearing that I am a Hairdresser and is true I am a hairdresser. Someone has taken our common fund and he's praising himself with it, and as well saying that hairdressers does not deserve to be in parliament. My fellow artisans, now someone is telling us that we are not useful to be in parliament. Today you and I have the power to show him that we are useful to be in parliament.
When Ghana's Constitution were being made, Carpenters, hairdressers, building contractors, market women and all artisans were all inclusive.
This country is for aĺl of us, so every citizen of Ghana have the right to go to parliament and bring development projects to his/her community.
Nana Akuffo Addo's 1 district 1 factory project is true, and when he comes to power, our lands in this area can be made useful for palm trees in which we can get palm oil from.
Let’s look at our nurses and teachers in their various training colleges, allowance given to them has become a problematic now.
I am sacrificing myself for the women of Akwatia Constituency, I am sacrificing myself for all artisans, I am pleading with you to give me your vote. Don't look at the party you're in, any party that you're in remember that you're going for Ama Sey".
Ama Sey added that her heart desire is to see development projects in Akwatia Constituency.
She finally thanked the National executive members of the party who were present, regional executive members, Constituency executives, Nananom and all the party supporters.
The campaign launch took place at Akwatia Presby Park on Sunday Afternoon.
