Photos: Heavy Storm Causes Havoc in Akwatia

A heavy downpour has caused a massive disaster in Denkyembour District (Akwatia) in the Eastern Region. The rain which started around 4:00pm and lasted for about an hour destroyed houses and schools in the district. The mostly affected communities are Domeabra, GCD quarters, GCD camp, Akwatia Zongo and Akwatia Presby school had been badly affected by the rain. The six classroom block for the Primary unit had all been unroofed by the storm whereas some other classrooms in the JHS department had also had
its fair share of the rains anger.
When Deraycity.com Reporters, visited the school this morning, school kids and some teachers were seen gathering some few things that they could get from the main school office which was also not spurred by the angry storm.

Residents who spoke to Deraycity.com, said, the disaster are likely to affect smooth running of teaching and learning and it has also affected businesses since some shops in the town were also affected until the building and the shops are renovated. They appeal to philanthropists and NGOs to come
to their aid as early as possible to get the buildings fixed.

According to the headmistress of the school, Nadmo has visited the school and they told the school authorities that they will hear from them. All efforts to reach Nadmo cordinators, in the district, Mr. Kuma and Mr. Asiedu has proved futile
